‘Escaping Armageddon’ - Collage on Card Stock 2011
For those of you don’t read posts unless there’s something purdy to look at, listen up!
I’m doing a series of 2.3x3.5 (trading card size) collages and givin’ ‘em away.
Why?
Because fuck it, that’s why!
So give me a shipping address in my ask box, or contact me at hoopart@gmail.com and I’ll send you a genuine piece of Hoop swag.
Please be patient - I’ve been getting a decent amount of responses.
The offer runs through the rest of July, so Sunday the 31st is your last chance to speak up.
Alright, listen up!
If you haven’t already given me a shipping address in my ask box, now(ish) is the time to do so!
I’ll begin making the cards shortly. I don’t expect an ungodly amount of responses or anything, but be patient anyway. If you sent me an address, you will get your art!
I’m hoping this keeps me plenty busy while I wait to find out the full details of the upcoming show, which - by the way - has just now been confirmed for the 12th of August at the Niche Wine Lounge in Holly Springs, NC. I’ll be trumpeting this info a lot louder very soon.
I’m thinking about doing a giveaway or some such thing.
See, I’ve come into the possession of a large quantity of 2.5x3.5 card stock (the dimensions of a trading card) but I can’t do a bunch of wee collages and expect to sell them. Art of such a small size isn’t often sold, but usually traded amongst artists for funsies. So I was thinking about giving em away as they’re made.
[Well… originally, I was planning on sending like, 10 or so to anyone who’d be willing to write up a short blurb about my work that I could use as a part of - or at least as a jumping off point for - a revised artist’s statement because the one I have right now is so generic and dippy I really never use it. I later decided that it was probably more effort than anyone would wanna put forth for 10 collage trading cards - even if they were lovingly handmade by mine own hands.]
Instead, I’m considering just sending them to anyone who wants one. Just another way of saying Rev. Hoop thinks you’re the bees knees.
It’d be the coolest card you’ve ever put in the spokes of your bike.
Or you could actually have that shit matted and framed, if you really wanted to.
Or you could shoot it with a BB gun.
Or light it on fire. (Please have adult supervision when playing with fire)
So what do you think, Tumblr? All it’d require is an address I can ship to. (in my ask box, please - Don’t just post that shit down here in the answers box)
Good idea? Bad idea? Who wants some hoop swag?
‘Awkward Eye Contact’ - Collage on Mat Board 2011
‘Archival’ - Collage on Mat Board 2011
I took down the old shirt designs because they were poorly planned and looked odd.
I’m going to try and post a shirt design based off of one of my existing collages each week, if possible.
Put me on your body. Be proud. You’re in the Hoop Army now.

Letting an idea for a new collage series gel.
15 Min Portrait Study - Conte Pencil on Paper 2011
I’ll come right out and say it. This is totally not Louis CK. Nope. Not at all. Pfft.
Also, the tactile sensation of these conte pencils are incredible - too bad they refuse to erase even just a little bit.
Also also, I’m definitely shuffling my feet on those bigger charcoal drawings.
Also also also, I’m working on putting together another show in August - more on that later (hopefully).

Mrs. Samsa - Digital Collage for Drawing Reference 2011
So the general theme of these drawings is what if Kafka’s Gregor Samsa lived through the events in ‘The Metamorphosis’ and continued to be a moderately successful insect in polite society.
Imma be honest here - I’ll probably get bored of the idea after these first two portraits are done.
Mr. Samsa - Digital Collage for Drawing Reference 2011
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again… my referencephoto fabricating skills are otherworldly.
…and shit.

I’m not one to wear a tin foil hat, but I kinda get creepily excited about numbers stations. If you have no idea what I’m talking about, here are some links.
